We would like to wish all of you a happy and SAFE 4th of July weekend. Please remember to thank a Veteran!!

Hello Everyone,

I am sorry it has been a while since I gave you an update. Between work and other issues I have not been able to collect my thoughts until now.

I would like to thank all of you who have emailed or commented on various chat rooms or called. Your support means a lot. The swelling has gone down how ever I still have pain in the elbow and wrist area’s so I have not begun repairs on the car as of yet. We are confident the car is repairable but until I can function 100% we won’t be on the track.

As some of you know we had a couple of sponsors back out early on leaving us with a good sized deficit so I am addressing those issues as well. If anyone knows of a company or business who would like to look at using our team as a promotional tool please let me know!

We have had to close down the Isaac Hall T-shirt program due to the company having problems with the type of machine they use to produce the shirt’s breaking down. I have one person left to contact and will be sending decals and a refund as soon as I can. I want to thank all of you who supported our efforts for the Isaac Hall program.

With that I will conclude the June report. Unfortunately there isn’t a whole lot to report but hopefully we will have some progress to report next month.

Take care everybody and have a happy and safe 4th of July!!!

Sincerely

Steve

Isaac Hall 7/7/2000 - 12/31/2008

Hello,

As many of you may or may not know I am starting a program called the Isaac Hall Memorial Tour Program. I will make donations to the Make A wish Foundation, CureSearch and the Caring Bridge Foundation. If yo would like to make a donation will accept donations throughout the summer with a goal of 20,000.00. With these funds I will divide them and make equal donations to the CureSearch Foundation, Make A Wish Foundation and Caring Bridge Foundation in the name of the Isaac Hall Memorial Tour. The Isaac Hall Memorial program has recently been endorsed by CureSearch – National Childhood Cancer Foundation and the Make A Wish Foundation. The duration of this program will be from April to September 2009.

In the event you do not know about Isaac I learned about Isaac in mid summer of 2008. He had been battling leukemia for some time and a family member contacted race teams and drivers, via a racing chat room, to see if anyone wouldn't mind sending Isaac any race memorabilia they might have to help brighten Isaac's room. It was then I learned about this amazing eight year old little boy.

For three years, Isaac took on cancer with hope and a joke. His older sister, Evelyn and younger brother Abram watched and laughed along the way. He gave so much joy to those around him even though he was very sick. He gave teddy bears to those without, raised money to buy John Deere toys at Children's Hospital in Omaha and handed out smiles when they were in short supply. Once his 2nd grade teacher gave the class an assignment to write about a bad day in your life. Isaac had been sick for 2 years. He approached his teacher after thinking for a few minutes and handed her a blank piece of paper and said, "I've never had a bad day." How profound is that coming from a little boy going through a very difficult time fighting this dreaded disease. Makes a person stop and think about the struggles in our lives and gives a little different perspective. Sadly on December 31st 2008 at 6:10PM Isaac lost his battle with leukemia.

Isaac's brief life and heroic story touched and inspired those who knew him and even those who never met him but had heard about his willingness to help others even though he had struggles of his own. It is that inspiration that I drew the determination to do something for a memorial to Isaac and his family. I also wanted to do something to for the care facilities and organizations that Isaac's family used and were a part of their lives.

I hope you will be able to help us with this cause. If you would like to make a donation make checks or money orders out to:

UPDATE 1/29/2009

Twenty Years. One Goal.

To guarantee every child with cancer the gift of a long and healthy life.

  • Cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease in children, cutting short more young lives than any other disease...combined.
  • Every school day, another 46 young people - about two classrooms of students - are diagnosed with cancer in this country.
  • More than 40,000 children and adolescents currently are being treated for childhood cancers.
  • One child out of 5 diagnosed with cancer dies, and another 3 out of 5 who survive will suffer from long-term side affects.

CureSearch supports the Children's Oncology Group (COG), the world's premier pediatric cancer research collaborative. The COG represents every pediatric cancer program in North America, treating more than 90 percent of children with cancer at more than 200 leading children's hospitals.

Since the founding of the Greg Norman Merrill Lynch Shootout in 1989 the event has helped facilitate:

  • The enrollment of 32,200 children with cancer into a clinical trial;

  • The completion of 138 pediatric cancer clinical trials;

  • The addition of more than 25,000 childhood cancer survivors - nearly 2,000,000 additional person-years of productive life;

  • Improvements in cure rates for acute leukemia, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, brain tumors, and Wilms' tumor;

  • An evolving focus of pediatric cancer research from increasing survival rates to improving quality of life for survivors.

Only research cures childhood cancer.

CureSearch celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Merrill Lynch Shootout and their ongoing commitment and support of our mission to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research.

Find out how you can give the most meaningful and measurable return on your investment - give a child with cancer the chance of a lifetime...to grow up. Visit CureSearch.org.

A message from Make A Wish President David Williams

Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has given hope, strength and joy to children with life-threatening medical conditions. From our humble beginnings with one boy’s wish to be a police officer, we’ve evolved into an organization that grants a child’s wish in the United States and its territories every 40 minutes.

In the fiscal year 2007, we granted the heartfelt wishes of 13,006 children, our most ever in a single year. Each volunteer and staff member is determined to share the power of a wish® with even more children this year.

We’ve achieved these goals thanks to an unmatched network of Make-A-Wish® volunteers, donors, sponsors and staff members. Everything we do is focused on helping seriously ill children, and we devote ourselves to serving them first: More than 78 percent of each dollar we raise goes directly toward granting their wishes.

Please explore our site and learn about our mission. We hope you’ll be moved to get involved. We have many volunteer opportunities to suit your talents, and we always welcome new donors and sponsors. Thank you!

Make-A-Wish Seal

Warmest Wishes,

David Williams
President & Chief Executive Officer

Our Mission

Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors, and entire communities.

The First Wish

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® traces its beginning to one boy’s wish. In 1980, 7-year-old Christopher James Greicius was being treated for leukemia. Every day, he dreamed of becoming a police officer.
U.S. Customs Officer Tommy Austin had befriended Chris and his mother, Linda Bergendahl-Pauling.

How We Grant Wishes

First, we determine a child’s medical eligibility with the help of the treating physician. To receive a wish, the child must be diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition – i.e., a progressive, degenerative or malignant condition that has placed the child’s life in jeopardy.
Once we know the child is medically eligible...
